UCD's  2020-2024 Strategy, Rising to the Future emphasises the University’s commitment to  Creating a Sustainable Global Society  through research, education, governance and engagement. We are delighted to invite expressions of interest  for a one year residency supported by College of Engineering and Architecture. The aims of this residency are to support a professional artist to engage with the themes of Sustainability and Climate Action in relation to current and prospective research in the College.

Engineering and Architecture are disciplines concerned with the design, production, and maintenance of systems and structures related to energy, communication, transport, manufacturing, agriculture, and the built environment. Arguably, the most urgent problems facing the world today, relate to the production and consumption of energy and the amount of physical material moving through the global economy. Engineering and Architecture have helped to create these challenges and must now contribute to addressing them.

The College comprises five Schools of Engineering (Mechanical and Materials Engineering; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Civil Engineering; Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering; and Biosystems and Food Engineering) and the School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy.

We particularly welcome expressions of interest from artists who wish to explore these themes, interact with staff and students across the six Schools and contribute a relational or socially engaged response.

Closing date for Expressions of Interest – Friday December 6
