In July 2014 the family of Nevill Johnson kindly donated the ‘Catharsis’ series of paintings by the artist to UCD.
Over the next ten years The Nevill Johnson Scholarship Award will provide a vital strand of support to artists who are interested in further developing their work at the crossover between art and science. The successful applicant will be awarded a year long residency in the UCD Science Artists in Residence programme at Parity Studios, UCD College of Science. An open call for applications will be made annually.
An exhibition of Johnson’s work was held in UCD Newman House, St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin in the summer of 2014. The exhibition preview coincided with the launch of the book 'Nevill Johnson: The Dublin Legacy' by Prof. Eoin O’Brien (UCD).
We are particularly grateful to Galway Johnson, physicist and son of Nevill Johnson; Eamonn Ceannt, Director of Capital Development, UCD; Ruth Ferguson, Curator, Newman House; and Prof. Eoin O’ Brien, UCD School of Medicine and Medical Sciences, for their work on bringing the Nevill Johnson collection to UCD.
Applications for the Nevill Johnson Scholarship 2016 are now closed.
